Judith B. Pownall

February 10, 1948 - March 6, 2017

02/10/1948 - 03/06/2017

Judi B. Pownall, of Chesapeake, passed away in her home on Monday March 6, 2017.  Judi was born on February 10, 1948 to the late Elmer Ray Blazer, Sr. and Margarette Criddle Blazer.  She grew up in Portsmouth and Chesapeake.  She graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1967.  She was a kitchen designer at Home Depot and Lowes and she also had her own business in Nags Head, North Carolina.
Most important to Judi was her personal life.  No matter how busy she was, she always had time for her family and friends.  She was a devoted and giving friend, always willing to lend a hand and enjoy a good laugh.  At the end of her life, Judi was most proud of being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cruising Thrift Shops, collecting porcelain dolls and doing crafts. She had a deep faith and was a believer in Jesus Christ, as her savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents Margarette Criddle and Elmer Blazer Sr., her brother Clint Blazer and her precious son Terry Blazer.  She is survived by her husband Jay Pownall, her son David Ryan Edwards of North Carolina, siblings Donna, Penny, John and “Hot Rod”.  Also left to cherish her memory are 2 grandchildren “Bubba Gump”, Lauren Elizabeth and their mother Connie Peed, one nephew Clint Blazer, one niece Kelly Blazer, god-child Lynn Honeycutt, multiple friends, aunts and uncles.   She especially loved her Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Darrell.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Judy lived near me during the 1960’s, and was a grade below me at DCHS. She was so much fun to be with, and we had such a good time together. I will never forget her saying back then “yodi, yodi, yodi”. She always made me laugh when she said that. I did not know of her passing until this month. God bless your family, as you grieve your tremendous loss.

Judi….will miss seeing your smiling face. You are truly an angel. We had many fun times together with other Edwards family members (Virginia, Kathkeen, Mom (Edna Pearl). Now you get to spend time with those who have passed and I am sure you are making them laugh and they welcome you with open arms. Until we meet again…..Tricia DeHahn, Sister in law.
