It is with a heavy heart that Judith “Judy” Ann Whitman passed on July 11, 2022 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Judy was a resident of Virginia Beach, VA formerly of Scranton Pa. She was born to Burton W. and Dorothy L. Murray on December 22, 1939 and attended North Scranton Jr. High School in Scranton.
Judy’s story began when she met the love of her life and best friend, John T. Whitman, and married at age 17. Judy and John were married for 45 years before he passed away in 2001. John proudly and honorably served our Country in the United States Navy. Young and in love Judy traveled and lived in many places with her husband. They bore three children and lived a Christian life and finally settled in Virginia Beach, where they raised them and made loving memories that will be cherished for years. Judy lived a Christian life faithfully going to Church at the Calvary Virginia Beach where she also was a preschool teacher for 18 years.
Judy loved having her parents, sisters, nieces and nephews, all of Scranton, as the place to visit, even to this day. Nothing made Judy happier than to be surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of her life. Whenever Judy spoke of them you could hear the pride, the joy and the love she had for them in her voice.
She is predeceased by her husband, John T. Whitman. A son, Scott Whitman and her parents Burton and Dorothy Murray.
Left to cherish her memory are son, John B. Whitman and wife Carol of Virginia Beach; daughter, Lynette Duquette and husband Joseph also of Virginia Beach; sister, Sandy Gibbs and Susan Murray of Jefferson Twp, PA; grandchildren, John B.
