Joseph William Burgess

Joseph William Burgess, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in Virginia Beach, VA surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born in North Carolina to the late George and Billie Burgess.  Joe went on to serve over 20 years in the Navy.  During his tenure with the military, Joe met and married the love of his life, Vivian.
Joe was a man who loved and had a heart for the Lord.  He was also a fan of the North Carolina Tarheels and the Washington Redskins.
In addition to his loving wife Vivian, Joe’s memory will be cherished by his three adoring children, Samuel Christopher Hardy, Christopher Lee Burgess (Kent) and Alicia Dawn Ice (Bobby); four grandchildren, Sarah Grace, Robert Daniel, Alexis Ann, Christian Hunter and a host of family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8th from 6pm-8pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd. in Virginia Beach.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 9th at Gateway Free Will Baptist Church, 5473 Virginia Beach Blvd. in Virginia Beach.  Burial will immediately follow at Rosewood Cemetery, 631 N Witchduck Rd. in Virginia Beach.
