Joseph LiTrenta, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great- and great-great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023 in Newport News, Virginia. He was born on February 18, 1935 in Manhattan, New York to the late Saverio and Angelina LiTrenta.
Joseph was preceded in death by his loving wife, MaryAnn, as well as his parents Saverio and Angelina LiTrenta. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Gerard and Paul, and his sisters Madeline and Marie.
He is survived by his sister, Antoinette, and his children: Saverio (Linda), Joseph (Debra), Kathleen, and Dominique. Joseph’s legacy continues through his eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchild.
Joseph dedicated many years of his life to working as a skilled butcher, honing his craft and providing for his family. Outside of work, he found joy in pursuing his hobbies, which included fishing, following the Yankees baseball team, and indulging in his passion for woodwork. Joseph’s talent in woodworking extended to creating beautiful furniture, showcasing his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
A man of faith, Joseph was a devoted member of the Catholic faith.
A private service to honor and celebrate Joseph’s life will be held at a later time in New York, allowing family and friends to come together and pay their respects.
Joseph LiTrenta will be remembered as a wonderful, caring, father, dedicated family man, a skilled craftsman, and a faithful servant of God. His kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his legacy of love will endure for generations to come.
