Graveside service at Colonial Grove Memorial Park to follow

John Joseph Paul Leywin Reid, affectionally known as “JP”, beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, tragically passed away on September 7th, 2023, in Kansas, at the age of 20. John was born on January 14, 2003, in Manila, Philippines, and moved to the United States in 2007 with his family.

John had a zest for life that was contagious. He had a passion for cooking, especially when it came to preparing delicious meals for his family and friends. His specialty was crafting mouthwatering ramen and stews that brought people together. He also had a deep love for music and spent hours curating playlists for his wife, Alyza, whom he met during his 6th-grade science class. They remained friends throughout their schooling and both attended the Collegiate Program at Green Run High School.

After graduating from high school, John proudly joined the United States Army. He served his country with distinction, specializing in mechanics. His dedication and commitment to his duty were commendable.

JP had an eye for fashion and took great pride in his appearance. He loved to dress nicely, do his hair, and always looked stylish. He enjoyed dancing and capturing cherished moments through photography, often posing for pictures with his loved ones.

John will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Alyza Leywin-Alvarado, his devoted mother, Josephine Reid, his caring step-father, David Reid, and his supportive father, Estelito Din. He is also survived by his siblings Weiila Reid, Rebecca Reid, Chris Reid, Dominic Din, Ellaine Din, and Ivy Din, as well as a host of aunties, uncles, extended family, and friends.

Services for John will be held as follows: The family will receive friends on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 5-9 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Southside Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 23, 2023, followed by the graveside service at Colonial Grove Memorial Park.

In our hearts, JP’s memory will forever live on. He brought joy and laughter to those around him and left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
