Norfolk – Norfolk John Eugene Smith, 60, passed away Monday July 20, 2015. John was born in Norfolk, lived in North Carolina as a child and moved back to Norfolk as a young adult. He was recently employed with Eggleston Services. John was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Elliott, whom he loved very much. He is survived by his aunt and many, many cousins.John loved baseball. He followed the Atlanta Braves and attended many ODU and Tides baseball games. John enjoyed fishing and was especially fond of the Ocean View Fishing Pier. John was a history buff. He enjoyed visiting the many historical events in the area. John volunteered with Keep Norfolk Beautiful and Clean the Bay Day at Barraud Park. He loved to collect and recycle cans. John had a great sense of humor and loved to socialize with his neighbors. He will be greatly missed by his close friends, Channing Pfeiffer and Kathryn Byler, and his friends from Hope House Foundation and Eggleston Services.
