She was born on January 26, 1931, in Rochester, New York, to the late George and Jessie Darrow Wood. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George ‘Dick’ Wood (Peggy) and is survived by her brother Gerald Wood (Patty).

Joan leaves behind the love of her life Peter Frank Brunett. Their 67 years of marriage was filled with laughter, adventure, and a bond that could never be broken. Together they had four children: Peter M. Brunett (Judy), Paul Brunett, Chris Brunett (Marci), and Kathy Pisano (Roccie). Joan was a cherished grandmother to Sean Brunett, Jessie Fernando, Joe Brunett, Madison Brunett, Cassie Brunett, Scott Thielman, Evan Thielman, Brian Thielman, Matthew Thielman, Ashley Thielman, Alli Thielman, and Christopher Thielman. In her free time, Joan loved to cook, bake, knit, read and watch sports. She was an ardent fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. Her radiant blue eyes and wonderful sense of humor would light up a room. Her personal hand-written notes could touch your soul and were cherished by all who received them. She had a deep love for dogs and treasured Oliver, her loyal companion of 17 years.
