Jim “Opa” Collins passed away September 28, 2016. Mr. Collins retired a SFC in the United States Army as a Transportation School Instructor at Ft. Eustis who served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. After retirement Jim was the fleet foreman for York County service vehicles, he was a tram driver for Bush Gardens and Jim was the very first driver of the Yorktown trolley. He is a member of the Peninsula Volkswagen Car Club, the Antique Automobile Association of America and the American Legion #368. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Erika. Survivors include; his son, James W. Collins, and his wife Christy, a daughter, Theresa Quillen, and her husband Tim, four grandchildren; Matthew Quillen, Andrew Quillen, Millie Collins, and Maggie Collins, one sister, Clara Reduto, a nephew, Bill Collins, a niece, Maria Reduto, and a nephew, Nic Reduto. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 6:00pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home- Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave. Newport News.

Jim and I were “go out to lunch friends”. He was a kind man and always spoke so lovingly of his family. He was proud of all of you.
