James “Jimmy” Richard George, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16th after a long illness.
Jimmy was born in Nashville, TN, the son of the late Iby and Ozelle George. After moving to Virginia Beach, Jimmy took on the task of being a lifeguard at the Oceanfront. He was an interesting man that was in a category of his own. His quick wit ensured that he never met a stranger. In 1957, Jimmy married his Sweetheart Patricia. He later did HVAC work for Civil Service.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his brother, Bill George and his sister, Juanita Gardner. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Patricia S. George; adoring children, Robynne Cacace (Pat); Connie Ponder (Dale) and Rick George (Melissa); 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert George (Beverly); a sister Elsie Lusson and a legion of extended family and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave. Virginia Beach. You may leave condolences for the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.

With heartfelt sympathy to Ms. Patricia and the rest of Mr. Jimmy’s family.
I am sad. One of the closest friends I have ever met is gone from this world as we know it. I love you Jimmy, and will miss you terribly. I wish that I had one more opportunity to cut your steak — just one more time. Thank you for being my friend, my confidant, and my surrogate dad! I am laughing at memories, but crying at memories. I miss you already.
We have really had some good times cousin Jimmy, but the years have taken their toll. Now you can stop shaking and rest in peace. Cousin Joe
