James “Jimmy” O’Carroll, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 31, 2015 surrounded by those he loved. Mr. O’Carroll was born May 20, 1938 and a native of Norfolk, Virginia. From 1955 until his retirement in 1996, Jimmy worked for the Virginian Pilot. He began his career with The Pilot when he was just 16 years old.
Left to cherish Mr. O’Carroll’s memory are his wife of thirty-two years, Helen “Kay” O’Carroll; three daughters, Tracy Rawls, Kelley Messer and Robin Rose; one son, Robert L. Carr Jr.; one sister, Patricia “Patsy” Boyd; six grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, Ayden Garner and a legion of other relatives and friends. Jimmy was predeceased by his mother, Margie King O’Carroll; father, James Frank O’Carroll Sr. and son James Cory O’Carroll.
A visitation will be held Wednesday November 4, 2015 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd. Virginia Beach. A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Jimmy was a phenomenal husband, father and friend and he will be missed by all those who knew him. Please offer your condolences to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.

Kay & family we send our condolences to you & pray for inner peace from our Lord Jesus Christ. Jimmy was a wonderful man, knowing him for many years he was just the type of guy you could count on for anything & had a heart of gold. We will miss him. Blessings to each of you!
