On Jan 15, Jimmy Jones became absent from his body to be with the lord. Jimmy was born on March 18, 1960, in Virginia to the late (but always on time) Wilbur and Arlene Jones. While most seek a formal education, Jimmy earned his degree through living life. He learned that while our bodies need food and energy to thrive in this world, music acts as food for the soul. Through his life he saw many a places and played many a notes. Each note fed a hungry soul and with that Jimmy touched many lives. Some of those lives included his son Jimmy Jr. and many family and friends. While Jimmy may have departed from
this earth his music lives on. If anyone has any pictures or stories to share from his life please share below.
Twenty three years of life, friendship, and music. No one did it like you! I’ll miss our conversations and the music we created together, but I’m comforted in knowing we’ll see each other again. Rest well my friend.
RIP brother. You fought the good fight, and you won! I will miss you and your infectious smile!
We’ve known Jimmy since we were all kids, growing up together in our hometown of Hampton. We are heartbroken….but know fully the music in Heaven just stepped up a notch, and shines brighter with his smile! Praying for his family….
I knew Jimmy as both a brother in Christ and a musician brother. He was one of the most naturally gifted musicians I knew, and beyond that a lover of Jesus. We shared many a moment in prayer and conversation! I had the great pleasure of gigging with Jimmy on occasion frustrating him to no end because my skill level wasn’t on par with his, he loved me anyway. I was always called to the churches he ministered in praise and worship in to adjust the sound in. He loved my ear and the fact that I sought perfection also. We cried, we laughed, I tolerated and laughed at his griping about those “who didn’t get it!” He was a great guy, cared dearly and was proud of his son, Jimmy Jr. as I knew him. He’ll be missed, his love of Jesus and music was so exciting to me, contagious even. I have a 4 song ep he gave me in the early 2000s, I’ll try to get them posted to his FB page. RIP Jimmy Jones!
Bill and Arlene were like grandparents and Jimi was like an uncle in a way. I remember how he loved music, kids and dogs. Much love to his family at this time.
I will miss you brother after almost 50 years of friendship. May God grant peace and love to the family.
