Jacqueline Kerry Shorrock

June 26, 1987 - September 30, 2021

06/26/1987 - 09/30/2021

It is with great sadness I share with you the loss of my wife Jackie. Jackie died suddenly last week.
Jackie dedicated herself to the wellness of all she crossed paths with. She always had a special place in her heart for applying her talents to help members of our community too. Jackie was an exceptional wife, mother and daughter and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral arrangements are pending, but the boys and I want to extend an invitation to all who would to like remember Jackie during an informal memorial service we will hold this week.
Jackie’s Memorial is Thursday, October 7 at 6 p.m. at Secret Beach, one of our family’s favorite places. Secret Beach is located on the corner of Lee Road and South Bay Shore Road in the Bay Colony neighborhood of Virginia Beach. Parking is limited, so we recommend ridesharing or walking if possible. Please bring a candle to light. White and gray beach attire is preferred. An outdoor reception will follow at 1141 East Bay Shore Drive, Virginia Beach 23451.
We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers at this extremely difficult time.

Jackie was the adorable little girl on Bloomer Road. I heard more than one story from other kids that she made all the kids on the school bus laugh or pulled a prank. Her smile was sweet and sincere. RIP little Jackie

My favorite memory of Jackie was when I was brand new nurse to Labor & Delivery. I had only seen a few deliveries and most were stressed and loud experiences. I came into her patients room knowing they were pushing and expected the same. I was shocked when it was calm, and soothing and she was talking in such a strong encouraging yet gentle way, coaching this woman to birth naturally and unmedicated. I was amazed and in awe at how calm and beautiful a birth could be. Since then I always looked up to her as a mentor. I knew I could rely on her to lift me up after a hard shift, encourage me, and she always filled the room with her contagious smile. Jackie you will be so dearly missed. My prayers are with her kids, family, close friends, and all those that were lucky enough to know the beautiful soul that she was.

Jackie and I met when I was a stressed OB/GYN resident at NMCSD. She was always at ray of sunshine in my day. We shared a love for the outdoors, for movement, and for deep one on one talks -so We went on a number of beach walks, at times hanging out with Hercules afterwards I remember her excitement every time she shared about some things new she was learning, and of course usually mindfullness or wellness related. She managed to integrate all of these skills with her beautiful joyous spirit. She was so confident and at peace about the idea of becoming a mom, and so ready when that idea became a reality… it was remarkable to see.

Our paths drifted as they often do especially in the military. But Jackie, I loved you and will always remember you and be grateful for the times we shared . To Jackie’s family, I am so very sorry. May you have the strength to go through each day – may you feel some of that strength she put out into the world pouring back into you

I am devastated to hear of Jackie’s passing. I will always remember baking cookies with her and Tommy, harvesting pumpkins in Pungo, helping her with Five Petals Wellness and, of course, the copious amount of evenings we’d be knocking on each others door with a bottle of wine. Jackie, you were a bright light in my times of darkness. I love you, I miss you, and you will forever be in my heart. Matt, Tommy and Luke, my heart goes out to you and you are in my prayers.

My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to Jacqueline’s boys, family, and friends. Her face would light up when she’d talk about/with her boys. We had several heart-to-heart talks that will be cherished. As well as, memorable moments from the rafting trip. You are and will be missed. Fair winds and following seas shipmate.
