Irene S. Hacke passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, in Newport News, VA at the age of 85. Born on October 23, 1937 in Greece, Irene lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication.

Irene’s journey began in Greece, where she was born to Spiridon Tsibogos and Athanasia Geka. She grew up alongside her brother Matthew Tsibogos, and sisters Katerina Santorineos and Roula Grivas cherishing the bonds of family that would shape her character and values.

In her professional life, Irene worked as a Beautician, using her skills to bring joy and confidence to those she served. She was a devoted member of the Greek Orthodox church and religion, staying true to her Greek background.

Irene’s true devotion lay in her roles as a wife and mother. She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Donald L. Hacke, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her brother Matthew Tsibogos and sister Katerina Santorineos also precede her in death.

Irene’s commitment to her family extended to her son, Donald L. Hacke, and daughter-in-law, Belinda C. Hacke. She found immense joy in their happiness and success. Irene’s granddaughter, Chloe Hacke, held a special place in her heart. Roula Grivas, sister, Nestor Grivas, brother-in-law, and Effie Tsibogos, sister-in-law are also left to cherish her memory.

Services to honor and remember Irene will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. A visitation will take place at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Newport News from 12-1pm, followed by a service at 1pm. Irene will be laid to rest at 3pm at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, located at 60 Traverse Rd., Newport News, VA 23606. Irene’s faith was an integral part of her life, and supporting the church she held dear would be a meaningful way to honor her memory.

Irene S. Hacke will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering faith, love, and dedication to her family and church will forever be remembered and cherished. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of God.
