VIRGINIA BEACH – Iola B. Waters, 97, went to her heavenly home on August 11, 2015. She was born in Beaufort County, NC to the late Dan and Zora Smith. Iola married Jesse Waters in 1942 and moved to South Norfolk where they raised their 2 daughters. She was a member of South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church. Throughout her life, she loved to travel and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Iola was preceded in death by her daughter, Deloris Ann Small; six brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Sandra and her husband Richard Starrette; son in law, Jack Small; five grandchildren, Jack and Jane Small, Tracy and Alan Spradling, Brett and Heather Starrette, Chris Small, Nicole and Joe Cowand; ten great-grandchildren, and one great greatgrandchild. A service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, August 17, 2015 at 12pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake Chapel, 929 S. Battlefield Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322 with burial to follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 4 – 6:00 pm.
