Henry J. Grigolite Jr., born 14 August 1940 in Nashville, TN to Susan T. Roberts and Henry J. Grigolite Sr., passed away on 27 March 2024 at his home, after a long illness with lung cancer.

As a young man he was a Boy Scout and active in the Civil Air Patrol. He was a graduate of Father Ryan High School, where he played trumpet in the school band. After graduation he attended Nashville Medical Technologist School for Lab and X-Ray. He joined the Navy and attended Boot Camp and Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, IL. His first duty station was Charleston, SC.

There, he met and married Donna K. Carter, while they both served at the Charleston Naval Hospital. Next duty station was Field Med Training at Camp Lejeune, NC, where he served many years with the Marines. Henry became a plank owner during the construction of the USS Inchon in Pascagoula, Mississippi. After twenty years, his retirement came while serving on the USS Trenton. He then attended Tidewater Community College for two years; he loved psychology. He took a small engine mechanic course, and worked at Land & Coates, before retiring again.

Henry always said his hobbies were his hobbies. He was an avid reader with many interests. He loved music, from Big Band, Country, and Bluegrass. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, gem mining, gold planning, Nascar, and wood carving. Henry was a volunteer wood carver at The Atlantic Wildfowl Museum and First Landing State Park. The State Park even commissioned one of his carvings for display.

Henry is survived by his wife of sixty years, Donna Grigolite. Two sons, Donald Grigolite (Lisa) of Virginia Beach, VA and James Grigolite (Melissa) of San Diego, CA. One sister, Susan Bleecker (Mike) of Hudson, MA. Six grandchildren, Josh, Meagan, Thomas, Joe, Jesse, and Kristina. Three great-grandchildren, Elli, Ramona, and Sage. And four nieces and one nephew.

A Celebration of Life will be held on 14 April 2024, 2:00pm, at Altmeyer Funeral Home Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Avenue, Virginia Beach. A casual reception will follow the service.
