Henry Davis Satterthwaite, IV, 62, passed away August 15, 2020 in Virginia Beach, Virginia from stage 4 lung cancer and emphysema surrounded by his loved ones at his bedside. Henry was born August 2, 1958, in Norfolk Virginia to Henry and Audrey Satterthwaite. He attended Kellam High School in Virginia Beach.
Henry worked as an OSHA Certified Concrete Form Construction Specialist. Amongst his employers include Miller and Long and Heard Concrete Construction Company. He was an excellent worker and worked from sun up to sun down. He married Carolyn Ann Corey on February, 14, 1989 and their union brought forth two children, Jeffrey Brooks and Lisa Rose. Henry’s family was his everything. In his spare time, he was an avid reader and loved studying his bible, various encyclopedias, history books and reading the newspaper everyday. He was a history buff. He was also an avid vegetable gardener. His favorite foods were lima beans, cornbread, Chinese food, seafood, salads from his vegetable garden, vegetable soups and all kinds pizza. Henry learned many languages, and spoke Spanish fluently. He loved singing along to music and had a beautiful voice. Some of his favorite artists were Creed, Linkin Park, and he also enjoyed Whitney Houston. One of his favorite songs was “He Knows My Name” by the Rochesters. His favorite color was blue, all shades of blue, especially slate blue. He loved fishing and crabbing, playing baseball, tennis, and badminton, bowling, and lifting weights. He also always watched March Madness and golf tournaments. He cared for and cared about his loved ones deeply.
In addition to being predeceased by his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Benny. Left to cherish his memory are his children Jeffrey Brooks and Lisa Rose, grandson David, sisters Helen, Terry, and Audrey.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach.
