Harris Benjamin Cooper, 82, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 7, 2016. He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Lee and Lizzie Cooper. Harris was a graduate of New Hanover High School.
Harris was a veteran of the US Navy. He retired from the Naval Aviation Depot in Norfolk, Virginia in 1988. He was a 40-plus year member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Harris was also a lifelong fan of the UNC Tarheels and the Washington Redskins.
In addition to his parents, Harris was predeceased by his son, Alan. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Alice; his son Harris and his wife Sherie; sister Mariah; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd. Chesapeake, Virginia. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the beginning of the service.
