Gretchen Whaling Daugherty passed away on February 24th, 2023 at the age of 98. She was born in Cumberland, Maryland, lived most of her life in Wheeling, West Virginia before residing in Virginia Beach.
Gretchen loved to read, play bridge with her friends, and always cheered on the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, where games were never missed and always on TV. She was known for volunteering her time for various causes, worked in her church, and delivered Meals on Wheels for those in need in her community.
Gretchen loved and cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. She loved them all with her whole being and heart. Gretchen was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Holland, her daughter, Susan Taflan, and her parents, Henry and Mary Williams. She is survived by her three children, Scott (Rhonda) Daugherty, Sherry (Tim) Hunt, Sally (Dave) Reed, four grandchildren. Amber, Kyle, Kurt (Windy), and Kristen and greatgrandchildren, Piper, Parker, and Soren.
A private memorial will be held for the family on March 11th.

Scott, very sorry to here of your Moms passing! I remember her and your Dad well in the days at the Tominack house. Your Mom was always a very good person. She had a long life and is now in a great place above looking down on your family.
