Gona M . Byrd- Isaac, a humble servant of the Lord, was called to Heaven on Thursday, July 14, 2022. She is survived by her threechildren, who made up the entirety of her world: Brian Byrd, Brigitta Byrd, and Christopher Isaac.
Gona was born Aug 2, 1950 in Robersonville, NC. Graduated from EJ Hayes High School. She went on to join the United States Army and toured the world before settling in Hampton, VA. After being
Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army, she began a career as a Postal Worker, from which she retired. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed painting, drawing and anything creative, especially if it was with her grandkids. Despite her health issues, Gona stayed strong in her faith until the end.
Besides her children, Gona is survived by her siblings Willie Byrd, Janice Blackwell and GC Corbett. Gona had six grandchildren; Khaiyon Byrd, Deshawn Byrd, Deannah Mackie, Deasia Bell,
Taliyah Miles and Aden Byrd. Her Daughter-in-Law Jennifer Byrd along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by her Mother, Mozella Andrews-Byrd, and Father, Esel Wimbush. Also by her siblings: Barbara Ann Webb, William W . Byrd Jr., Tereatha F. Byrd, Roger C. Byrd, Robert C. Byrd and Anthony Byrd.
