Gladys McGowan left this world for her celestial home in the early hours on April 3, 2022. Born Gladys Mae Prutzman in Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania, brought up during The Great Depression and World War ll, saw her childhood friends serve in Korea, worked for her Senator in Washington D.C., became a Navy Wife, and raised four children. By today’s standards it is inconceivable to be unique, but she had an extraordinarily successful career in Government service when those opportunities were not readily available to women while raising a family. Gladys was a source of strength and role model for her family. She is survived by her husband Thomas, two daughters, (Gail and Susan), and two sons (Thomas and David), two granddaughters (Kelly and Baillie), one grandson (Reilly), and one great granddaughter (June). After 91 years, 5 months, and 3 days our world is emptier as the heavens shine brighter.
Services are open to family members only. Memorial Donations can be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
