George Harvey Perry, 74, of Newport News, Va. Passed away July 28, 2023 following a short illness. He was born September 4, 1948 to Harvey and Hermalee Perry.

George was raised in Paint Creek, WV and was a 1966 graduate of East Bank High School. Following graduation, he proudly served in the US Air Force. George retired from the Newport News Shipyard after 38 years of service.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his son Brian Perry, his great grandson Sawyer Dorsey, and his two sisters, Nancy and Wanda.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deloris Perry, daughters Tammy Dorsey (Todd), Trina Overstreet, Charity DeBusk (Brian); his grandchildren, Zachary Dorsey (Mary), Ashton Johnson, Trinity Dorsey (Bailey), Sierra Hope (Dane), Amber Thompson (Steven), Amanda Wedding (David), Tyler Allen (Kendra), Tristan Perry; 15 great-grandchildren; his sister Linda Perry Bowman, brother Clifford Perry; “Adopted” grandchildren Jessica Benson and Heather Fogus; as well as his pet min-pins, Mila and Tucker.

A special thank you to Callie Tayrien and the staff at Riverside Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care given to George. Your kindness is greatly appreciated by the family.

In keeping with his wishes, George was cremated and there will be no services.

My 2nd cousin. We loved when he and his mom, dad, brother and sisters would visit us in Van Lear, Ky. He was so much fun to be around. R.I.P., Cuz.

Loved picking with George. He called me his favorite Gloucester (can’t post in public) 😀 Was really surprised to find out he was from Paintsville Ky. My mother’s family was too. West Van Lear to be specific..just a holler away. Loved me some George.

Prayers for Dee and all the family. George was an amazing man. I met George in 1978. I introduced him to Dee and they were a perfect match. He was definitely a great guy and Dee is a wonderful lady. Love you Dee.
