07/01/1937 - 05/07/2023

George Frederick Archer Jr, 85, passed away Sunday, May 7th surrounded by his loving family. George was born July 1, 1937 in Adams, New York to the late George Frederick Archer Sr. and Mary (Rogers) Archer. He was the oldest of five brothers.

He is survived by his daughters Cherie (Chris) Brogan of Virginia Beach, VA and Susan (Alfred) Ferraro of Edenton, NC, grandsons; Shane Ferraro, Nicholas Brogan and his only granddaughter, Kaitlyn Brogan. Also, left to mourn his death are his brothers Robert (Elaine) Archer, Dale Archer, James (Ninah) Archer and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John Archer and his wife Brenda E. Archer.

One of George’s proudest accomplishments was enlisting and serving as a naval submariner in the United States Navy and was a Senior Chief Petty Officer at the time of his retirement. He joined the US Navy at the young age of 18 and retired from active duty in 1978.

George loved horses and watching the Kentucky Derby every year. He also loved spending time with his family and hosting cookouts in his beautiful backyard. He was a compassionate man who loved to help those in need. His family lost count of the many charities he supported over the years. His family will miss him dearly.

A private family graveside burial with military honors will be held on May 26th 2023.

I was saddened to hear of George’s passing. We carpooled to the shipyard for many years and I considered him a good person and a good friend.
He will be missed.
