George A. Lane

George A. Lane, 84, passed away Mar 26, 2023. He was born in Edward, NC on April 3, 1938, to the late Elbert and Melissa Lane.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Clara L. Cayton, William Lane, and Eskalene L. Oliver.

George is survived by his children Joe Lane (Anne), Chris Lane (Marie), Catherine Gates (Steven), Chip Kyper (Sophia), and Gary Lane (Thomas); grandchildren William Lane, Hunter Gates, James Gates, and Ofelia Lane; his brother Richard Lane (Marie) and Sister Mary Carole Deal (Jimmy); numerous nieces and nephews; and his life-long friend, Punkin Allgood

George was a skilled mechanic. He supported his two teams, the Boston Celtics and Kansas City Chiefs. George was also a dedicated fan of NASCAR’s Bill Elliott. In his free time, George could be found watching westerns featuring his favorites, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. He deeply enjoyed going for walks any chance he could.

George will be remembered as a polite and genuinely nice person to everyone he met.

A celebration of George’s life will be held Monday, April 3, 2023, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 Battlefield Blvd S., Chesapeake, VA 23322, at 11:30am
