Frank Joseph Cimino, of Virginia Beach, took his final flight and passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the age of 87 years. He was born on December 30, 1929 to Frank J. Cimino, Sr. and Yelva Iris Anderson Cimino in Norfolk, VA.
Frank served his country in the Naval Reserve Aviation Force. Frank worked as a purchasing agent for Tidewater Construction Corp., where he helped contribute to the successful creation of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. From a young age, Frank was in love with flying and all things aviation, and that love stayed with him his entire life. He was an avid swimmer, and later went on to participate in the Senior Olympics, where he qualified for numerous Gold Medals. He was also a friend to any and all animals and was a regular contributor to organizations for the prevention of animal cruelty.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife Betty Beasley Cimino and sister Mona Lee Williams.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Steven Cimino of Virginia Beach; daughter Donna McDaniel and her husband Mark of Virginia Beach; and daughter Michelle Jerde and her husband Mitch of Long Lake, MN; brother Stephen “Frisky” Walters and his wife Susie of Southern Shores, NC; and grandchildren Taylor and Connor Gomez, Matthew Jerde, and Jackson McDaniel. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Frank will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Frank’s residence (2525 S. Adventure Trail Virginia Beach, VA) at 1:00 PM.
