Frances Honaker Hobbs of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away peacefully under the loving eyes of her Husband William Homer Hobbs on April 24th, 2023. Frances was born February 3rd, 1943, in Grundy, Virginia.

Frances grew up in Harmon, VA in a large and dynamic family of coal miners, where her father Vernie, rose to the presidency of the local miners’ union. Frances was a dedicated Christian, wife, and mother. She was also a diligent worker and natural hostess, which served her well as the wife of a Naval Officer. Frances was the head cheerleader at Grundy High and worked for the federal government in Hawaii while her husband served at sea and in the Vietnam conflict. After moving back to Virginia, Frances managed the accounting for our family business, Hobbs & Associates. Frances never met anyone who received less than her full attention, personality, and friendship. My brothers and I often marveled at the number of people who approached us with smiles and conversation wherever we went with her.

Frances is preceded by her parents Vernie and Mary Honaker, and her siblings Betty, Don, Sue, and Pat.

Frances is survived by her Husband of 59 years, William H. Hobbs, her three sons and their wives William & Michelle, Charles Bradford & Molly, and John & Kalena, as well as her Grandchildren William, Olivia, Mariam, Virginia, Catherine, Charles, Joseph, Madeline, Sydney, and Shane, and her sisters Beatrice and JoAnn.

A service celebrating her life will be held at Kings Grant Baptist Church in Virginia Beach on June 3rd at 11:00 am, followed by a reception at Bradford and Molly’s home. A private interment for immediate family will be held at a later date.

Uncle Bill, BJ, Brad, John, and Families. My deepest condolences to you all. I am very saddened to hear of Aunt Frankie’s passing. I have so many special memories of her. One of my fondest memories is when she stayed with us as children. My Mom had surgery and she was helping out. She taught me so many girlie things. She taught me how to curl and take care of my hair and is totally responsible for my obsession with my hair!!! Lol. I find comfort in knowing that her health is restored with Jesus and she is reunited with her family. I would also like to send love and hugs from my Mom, Beatrice. If she were able to express her feelings, I know her heart would be broken.
May God bless you all and help you to find peace and comfort in the days, months, and years to come.
Love you all, wish I could be there.
