Hagerstown, MD – Florence Irene Weaver, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2016. Mrs. Weaver was born in Washington D.C. to the late Joseph and Bessie Bowers Barnes. She helped build airplanes during WWII, owned and operated Medical Doctor’s Exchange in MD and had worked as a caregiver. Mrs. Weaver was a member of the American Legion, Post 42, had attended Midway UMC, enjoyed playing BINGO, watching the Baltimore Oriels and reading. She had been residing with her daughter, Teresa J. Holmes, in Chesapeake, VA.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Gary Mayes of Luray, VA, Linda L. Smith (Duane) of Swansboro, NC, Ronald E. Weaver, Sr. of Hagerstown, MD, Dennis C. Weaver (Carole) of Kutztown, PA, and Teresa J. Holmes (Terry) of Chesapeake, VA; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Marie Meyers of Boonesboro, MD, Eva Barnes, Mary Martin (George), and Anna Barnes all of Hagerstown, MD, and Josephine Elliot (Ronald) of State Line, PA. She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Huntsberry.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:30 am at Rest Haven Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
