Filomena was born in Tolosa, Leyte, Philippines. She departed this life peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2015, surrounded by family and friends by her side at Norfolk Sentara Heart Hospital.
On July 17, 1968, she married Albert W. Jones with whom she had one child, Alisha F. Jones.
She was a native of the Philippines and came to the United States as a military spouse. On July 30, 1980, Filomena was granted naturalization and became a citizen of the United States of America. The majority of her employment was dedicated to the Food Service Industry where she was employed with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools. She is of Catholic faith. She had a passion for cooking and she truly loved playing Bingo.
Siblings included sisters Dorethea Perez (deceased), Maxima Perez (deceased), Susana Perez (deceased), Genoveba Perez (deceased) and one brother Pedring Perez (deceased), Edith Foster and sister/niece Linda Tipton.
Proceeded in death by her husband, Albert W. Jones and step-daughter, Lynneta J. Thomas. She leaves behind a daughter, Alisha Faye Jones, granddaughters Cassidy Mykhail Simmons, Jahri Meriweather, Demetria Thomas and a grandson, Jabari McGee. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and in-laws that loved her dearly.

Grandma Nina you know I struggle dealing with these situations. I often think about you and wish there was one more time to see you. However I know God makes no mistakes. You are now with A.W. and my mother, I know it’s a party. 🙂
No matter what, when I seen you, I never felt any different and for that you are my grandmother! I’m sorry I couldn’t be there physically but you are in my prayers daily. Don’t you worry about us here, we are going to get it together. Watch over me please, I need all the help I can get!
