Mr. Elmer A. Scott, born 19 October 1941 in Hebron, Indiana and was one of eight children to Lewis and Helen Scott. Elmer passed away quietly and comfortably on 1 May, at Sentara Hospice Home in Virginia Beach at 2:20 am. He was surrounded by friends and family at his side and is survived by his loving wife Donna, son David, daughter Sandra, grandchildren Michael, Michelle, Melody and James, his sisters Helena, Rose Marie and Dorothy and brother Donald. Elmer Scott was a patriot and combat warrior serving his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper, gallantly serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. He would later separate from the Army and join the Navy becoming a Yeoman. He would attend and graduate from the submarine school in Groton, Connecticut serving onboard the submarines USS Wahoo and USS Queenfish. He attained the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer (LDO), retiring as a Lieutenant Junior Grade.

Viewing will be held at Memorial United Methodist Church, 804 Gammon Road, Virginia Beach on Wednesday, 3 May 2017 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, while a Celebration of Life for Elmer Scott will be held on Thursday, 4 May at 10 am. The burial will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
