Edward Lamarr Brown, Jr., 23, of Suffolk, VA. passed away suddenly on November 12, 2023. He is survived by his loving parents Vilma and Petty Officer First Class Ret. USN Edward Lamar Brown, Sr.

Edward “Lil Edd” was born on December 14, 1999, in Hartford, CT while his father was away on deployment. He was his parents’ pride and joy. He was a sports fanatic; he especially loved his New York Yankees and the Michigan Wolverines. At the age of seven he was fortunate to meet his hero, Derek Jeter. Edward could always be found at a sporting event, hanging out at the beach with friends, or even dancing and having a good time. He was a bright light who had a love and respect for his family and friends. He loved traveling to Detroit and Connecticut to visit his family. At a young age he accompanied his dad to many BBQ competitions leading to a love of food. Edward began going state to state in search of new culinary experiences.

He made his parents so proud when he graduated in May 2022 from Virginia Wesleyan University for Criminal Justice.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Jose J. Torres Sr., his paternal grandfather, Edward Richard Brown, Jr. and his Uncles Michael Brown and Kevin Brown and his beloved dog Hooch.

He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Carmen Neco and his paternal grandmother Darlene Peppers. His Aunts, Loren, Bonnie, Dana, and Tiffany and “Auntie Caryl”. His uncles, Jose, Juan, Alex, and Martez along with his god parents Kathy Rivera and Jose J. Torres Jr. And his cousins Juan, Jose, Christian, Mateo, Daylen, Axton, Tyler and Maricelis.

…….. “Fair winds and following seas.”

Services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. To honor Edward please feel free to wear your favorite sports jersey in lieu of dress clothes.

So sorry to see this news. Edward was in several of the CJ classes I taught at VWU. He was wildly creative, keenly smart, and fiercely funny; he spoke about his family with such warmth and pride. Condolences to you all.
