Edith G. Kirk, 80, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015. Edith was born Edith Genevieve Bolden in Ridgeland, South Carolina to Richard Bolden and Annie Scott. Edith was raised by Rose Evans along with siblings Ernest Evans (deceased) and Hanna Evans (Prather). Edith’s life took an upturn when she married the love of her life Paul Wesley Kirk and they became “Pete and Edie’, February 9, 1957.
For those that were close to her and knew Edith, when she got upset, she was upset, but when something tickled her, she was tickled and would laugh and laugh, even when telling the exact same story she had told you for years; and Edith had many stories she told of growing up and the many activities she had participated in with with Pete. Pete truly was the love of her life and her rock and she greatly missed him this past seven years since his passing.
She is survived by her son Philip Kirk, daughter Patricia Wade and son in law Orvis Wade, grandson Jon Kirk, daughter in law Katherine Kirk, great grand daughter Hailee and great grand son Evan; daughter in law Roberta Kirk-Minter and grandsons Wesley and Anthony; sister Hanna Prather; sister in law Marnie Kirk-Pickney and a beautiful host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and acquaintances, all to share her memory.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 18, 2015 from 10-11am with a funeral service following at 11am at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach. The family would like to invite everyone for a reception following the service at Altmeyer Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date.
