In the afternoon of December 31, 2021 the Angels took or. Glen Sussman home. At the young age of 71 he passed from severe Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Masten, after 43 wonderful years together. A brilliant man, he was a professor of Political Science at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Well known world wide, the author of six books, & recipient of many teaching & research awards, he will be sorely missed. He was born in Hollywood, California, to Leo & Sylvia Sussman. He had a younger sister named Debra. He grew up in Los Angeles, California, earned a Bachelor of Science at UCLA, moved to San Francisco to pursue his Masters degree, & finished his PHO in Political Science at Washington State University. He & his wife traveled the world both through his work, & for pleasure. He was kind, gentle, humble, honorable, fun, & hilariously funny. He enjoyed his life, & had many friends. He loved doing research, playing his guitar, & helping his wife in the garden. A me morial is to be held in the future at Old Dominion University.
Angels walk among us. I know this to be true. For I was sent someone to love, and he, sweetheart, was you. Your love I’ll always cherish. Your name I say with pride. You lived your life with honor that could never be denied. You gave so much to all you knew, yet never asked a thing. My world is so much sadder now because you’re not with me. When God’s loving arms embraced you, and took you home to stay, the emptiness without you seems to never go away. But the memories you left me, and the love you leave behind, will be with me always, and see me through each day.
A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at Old Dominion University, February 14th starting at 6:30 PM with a reception to follow.
