CHESAPEAKE – Doris Jean Reason, 83, died April 9, 2017. Mrs. Reason was born in North Carolina to the late, Farmie and Martha Locklear. She was a member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church. She was an avid BINGO player, enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Gary Reason and 8 siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Preston Colonna of Chesapeake, Resha Kay Holloman of Chesapeake, and Bruce Raper and his wife Paula of Chesapeake; 4 sisters; 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake on Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm. A life celebration service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:00 pm with burial following at Riverside Cemetery. Express condolences to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.

Resha , Bruce , Preston, we were so lucky to have known the ever smiling, and loving life of Doris Jean . She gave so much to all that new her. I remember her judgment, her caring and love which she always shared. It is sad that we all meet and say our good by’s . But I enjoyed hearing and feeling a family’s love and memories. May we all learn and remember her grace and love .
You will truly be missed Aunt Doris Jean. You are such a big part of my childhood memories. Take care of mom for me. Love and miss you.
