I know how special Nana was to her family and her granddaughter (daughter) Darnell. Nana was the glue for this large family. She always greeted you with her smiling face. I call myself a friend of many members of her family, but always remained confused about their relationships to each other, e.g. Ralph is Jack’s uncle! I watched Darnell grow into the beautiful person she is today on the island, with her grandparents being very instrumental in her upbringing. I watched in amazement as Darnell was hired into a non-entry level position following her college internship. I had the opportunity to watch her become the successful professional she is today working with her in different capacities throughout her career. My sincere condolences to all members of the family.

Doris Wolfe knew no strangers. She knew what she wanted and made sure her wishes were known. I had the great pleasure of working with Nana’s granddaughter, Darnell for many years and felt as if Doris was a part of my daily life. Darnell and I spent many conversations talking and Nana and my mother. I will truly miss her and hearing the great stories she and Darnell would tell. Thanks for taking me in to the family and thank you for the laughs.

My deepest sympathies for this family. Doris will be greatly missed, our family loved her dearly. She was a co-worker of mine for several years at Knotts Island Market while under Dave’s ownership. She’s been another adult in charge with my children when they were younger, and a friend to them as adults for which I will always grateful. She raised her children and grandchildren to be loving people that I feel honored to call my friend. May she be sitting at his side ?.
