Donna Midget Harris, 81, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away on November 27, 2023.  Donna was predeceased by her parents, Clifford Sr. and Ruth Midgett; her husband, John Harris Jr.; her daughter, Sonya Allen, and her granddaughter, Courtney Harrell.  She is survived by her two brothers, Clifford Midgett Jr.(wife Ginny); Rodney Midgett and her sister Kim Ross (husband Alex).  She is also survived by her three children: oldest son, Christopher Harris Sr., (grandson, Christopher Harris Jr.);Son, Troy Harris (wife Wendy and Grandson, Jonathan and granddaughter Hannah) and daughter, Tammy Harris; a grandson Steven and granddaughter Brittany Nugent as well as her five great-grand children; Chole, Tommy, Hailey, Aiden, Dylan and great-great grandchild; Leila.

Donna was born in Kitty Hawk, NC, where she met and married her soulmate, John Harris. They transferred to New Jersey and then to Alaska where she would keep busy by painting totem poles that were sold to tourist and labeled “hand painted by Alaskan native”. They later transferred to Governors Island, New York, where she kept herself busy with her four children.  After New York, they retired to Chesapeake, Virginia, where she would work in the city library.  No matter where she was, she never met a stranger.  Always attending school events for her children and excepting all of her children’s friends as if they were her own children.

Donna will always be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her loving heart will live on through all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sincere sympathies to the family. Donna was my neighbor, and we did craft shows together. Good memories of a nice lady.
