Donald Lee Busby, Sr. passed away February 19th, 2023 in Norfolk, Virginia at Sentara Leigh Hospital. Donald was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Marjorie Mae Fortune and George Ray Busby. He grew up in Norview and attended Norview High School.
Donald met the love of his life Dianne in high school and they were married for 59 years. Their union brought forth two children, Donald Lee Busby, Jr. and Dorothy Danielle Busby, and a son he just discovered but didn’t get the chance to meet, Marc Cain. Donald lived for his family. In his spare time he loved to go fishing with his son and his sister-in-law Gina, he loved to sing, dance, make people laugh, watch his favorite team Washington Redskins and loved to try different types of foods. He was quite the character and enjoyed being the center of attention in a crowd.
In addition to being predeceased by his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brother George, his sisters Barbara and Deborah, his mother-in-law who was more like his momma Dorothy Maynard, his father-in-law Johnnie, his brother-in-law Danny Betor, his grand daughter Ashlee Donielle, and his nephew Daniel Betor. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Dianne, son Donnie and daughter-in-law Johanne, daughter Danielle and her fiancé Jon, his grandchildren Joshua, Lindsay, Hanna and Gabrielle, four great-grandchildren Isaiah, Jayden, Amara, Mariah, his sister-in-law Gina, his nephew Freddy, Gabrielle’s dad Larry, and a host of family friends.
A service will be held Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at 11:00 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Dr. in Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, please visit Discovering the Jewish Jesus or the Alzheimer’s Foundation to make contributions in Donald’s honor.

May you take comfort in knowing that Donald is wrapped in the arms of Our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Rest in peace Donald; you were a fixture up and down Sewells Pt. Rd. And around my parent’s store in the 1950s.
I grew up in Norview and knew Donnie, Barbara, George and Debbie. After George’s death and Barbara and Debbie moved away, I lost contact. I have often wondered where they were. Barbara and I were in grade school together and played together. Donnie gave me my first kitty cat. I’m truly sorry for your loss. I remember the big personality Donnie was. May God be with your family during this time.
We went to Norview High school with Donald. He also worked for me at ABC Exterminating Company and was a great worker. We’re sorry for your loss.
