Dennis M. Stewart

December 19, 1955 - May 15, 2023

12/19/1955 - 05/15/2023

Dennis M. Stewart, aged 67, of Virginia Beach, died peacefully at home on May 15, 2023.

Left to treasure his memory are his wife of 40 years, Tara Stewart, son, Matthew Stewart and sister, Paula (Rich) Studebaker. He was predeceased by his son, Brian Stewart. He also leaves behind his loving extended family.

He retired as a Network Technician II with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools Information Technology Dept. in April, 2023 after 22 years of service. His previous career was as a welder and heavy machinery mechanic where he honed his gift for fixing all things mechanical.

Dennis could frequently be found working on cars and computers or playing his many guitars, with the amp turned up to 11! His love of music knew no bounds and his friends were often recipients of music he thought they would enjoy.

His kindness and willingness to help others was known to many. This legacy was embodied by his sons. He was most proud of his role as a devoted husband and father and will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be private. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. If desired, friends and family may make a memorial donation to an animal rescue organization of their choice.

Tara and Matt, I am so sorry to hear that Dennis has passed away. I have many fond memories of “Sully” including the time he donned a Santa suit to surprise my grandsons when they were little guys. Please know that you’re in my prayers.

Sending all my love to Matthew, Tara, and Paula in these heart-breaking times. I really loved getting to know Dennis through the years. Each new bit of information, a storied hobby or chuckle was a gift. I’m happy to make a donation to an animal rescue in his honor. To the years of love you guys shared together, may his memory be a blessing.
