Dennis Lee Mowrey, 73, passed away on June 17, 2023, in Chesapeake. He is the son of the late Everett and Jean Evans. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his son, Judith Ann Mowrey, great-grandchildren; Juelz and Julius Portalatin and wife, Kathy Clark. Dennis served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps, following his military service he worked as an engineer for NASA. Dennis attended Ohio State University and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed bass fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, William Mowrey and his wife, Lauren; stepchildren, Dietra Tucker and her husband, Terry, Derrick Childress and his wife, Michelle; siblings, Dean Mowrey and his wife, Nancy and Craig Mowrey and his wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Luis Portalatin and his fiancée, Jessica Jones and Carlos Rivera and his wife, Ashley; step grandchildren, Laci Banton and her husband, Bubba, Natalee Murphy, Conner Ackers and Dominick Childress; great grandchildren; Delilah, Lyra, Kayslee, Aubree, Saylee, Briggs and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 29th at 10:30 am at Altmeyer Funeral Homes- Chesapeake Chapel, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake.
