Della Harvey

February 8, 1943 - December 5, 2023

02/08/1943 - 12/05/2023

Della Harvey (Smith/Grubjesic), 80, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Chesapeake, Virginia.

She is survived by her daughters: Desiree (Mark) Resetar, Denise (Bob) Dombrowksi, Selena Unger, Melissa (Ron) Fetter, and her grandchildren: Jessie, Rashell, Brittany, Ian, Lindsay, Evan, and Louka, and sisters: Elizabeth Stevenson and Florence Kiefer, as well as her extended family and friends.

Della was born in La Belle, Pennsylvania, on February 8, 1943. She graduated high school from Bethlehem Center Senior High School in 1961. Della was an amazing woman who was very strong, courageous, caring and talented. She sacrificed so much of her time for her family and to helping others. She was a very unique individual who always brought joy and a smile to those that she encountered. She was always reinventing, learning and challenging herself with new skills. She graduated from Global University with a Ministers Certification in 2015.

Della was artistic and creative in so many ways. She spent her days publishing children’s books, painting, making handcrafted gifts and cards and chocolates which she was well known for. She loved to sing and play the piano whether it was in her home, in her church choir or at a special event. She enjoyed helping others as a part of her job, volunteering in the community or doing mission work. She loved spending time with her grandchildren by teaching them skills such as baking or doing crafts and by singing, praying and readying the Bible with them and her daughters on a weekly basis.

She had an unwavering faith in God despite the circumstances she encountered and no matter the hardship she pressed forward and continued to serve God. She was dedicated to God, serving him and always keeping Him a priority in her life. Della’s favorite Bible verses: Mathew 11:28 ‘Come to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Psalm 23:1-6: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for though art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; though anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

We know that God has wrapped his arms around her, and she feels his love, peace and joy. She will forever experience His presence and never feel alone. She is with the Lord, and we have peace in knowing these things and we will never forget her and the impression that she has left in all of our lives. We love you mom.

Friends will be received Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10 AM to 11 AM, the time of funeral services, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA with Pastor Don O’Hara officiating. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, Brownsville, PA.
