Della Mae Ellis Lewark, 87, died April 6, 2016 in her home. Mrs. Lewark was born in Fuquay-Varina, NC to the late James Lee and Eva Mae Honeycutt Ellis. She and her husband, Ralph owned and operated Lewark Brothers Hunting and Fishing Lodge and were members of Knotts Island UMC. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph W. Lewark, son, Fred James Lewark and grandson, Gregory Freeman.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Ralph Wayne Lewark (Rosalie), Faye Freeman (Gary), Martha Lewark-Burns (Bob), Patricia Lenthall (Michael), and Ira Thomas Lewark (Cindy) all of Knotts Island; sister Ramona Lloyd (Bruce) of CA; grandchildren, Steven, Danielle, Rachel, Paul, Ellis, Sara and Sam; and great grandchildren, Mason and Reagan.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Knotts Island UMC with Rev. Diana Johnson and Frank Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Knotts Island Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Knotts Island UMC. So sorry for the family’s loss! Miss Della welcomed me to the Island when Bobby became the pastor of KIUMC with love and the most wonderful smile!
