David Spady Vann, 83, passed away July 9. David was a lifelong resident of Newport News and graduated from Warwick High School. After high school, David was hired to work for and attend the apprentice school for what was then known as NACA and now as NASA. After retiring from NASA he worked for the NAVY as a contractor for many years.
David was proceeded in death by his wife Elizabeth Lilly Vann and son, William Spady Vann. He is survived by his daughter Leslie Vann Trimble, her husband David and grandchildren Alexandra and Ryan. Also surviving is his brother Allen and his wife Susan, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A celebration will be held in his memory July 23, 2023 at Leslie’s home 64 Raleigh Road in Newport News at 2:00pm.
We were saddened to walk into the Hidenwood this morning and see a candle lit and hear that Dave had passed away. Larry worked for many years with him and had many fond memories of their work trips together. We attended several Christmas parties at their home. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
