David Leo Kaufman, 77,  went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2022. David was born to the late Walter and Florence Kaufman on September 2, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa.

David served his country proudly for over 20 years in the U.S. Navy before retiring as a lieutenant commander and a Vietnam Vet. He took his next job at Metro Machine Corporation for 15 years as Ship Superintendent and attended St Leo University part time while working. He liked to watch the NFL and loved the Green Bay Packers.  David was a hard-working man and very talented at everything he did. He was loved by many and will be missed deeply.

Other than his parents, David is preceded in death by his son, Jasen David Kaufman.

Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife of 56 years, Mary L. Kaufman; children, Lissa Bauder, David Kaufman II & wife Carolyn; grandchildren, Ashlynn Kolmer & husband Cameron, Katelyn Philleo, Austin Philleo, David Reid Kaufman and Jordan Kaufman; great-grandchildren, Raelynn “Rae” Kolmer, Alessandra “Ali” Navarrete; brother, Ronald Kaufman and wife Patricia Kaufman; their children, Katie Kaufman-Cunningham, Kevin Kaufman, Kelli Kaufman-Huelen; many more extended family  members and friends.

Celebration of life will be held at St Michaels Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach at 2 o’clock on May 28.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Association.

David was laid to rest at Albert G Horton Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery.

My deepest condolences to the Kaufman family. I use to see Mr. David, Ms. Mary and her son here at Walmart. I especially miss Mary who helped me many times. Sending my love to all.
