MPO Nieves graciously visited our neighborhood several times to share tips about safety and protection issues. He delivered the message with passion and pride in the services of the police but shared that we are all responsible in keeping our neighborhood safe. His stories had a balance of caution and humor and we appreciated his time to meet with us. I’m so sad to learn of his passing and send my sympathy to his family.

Sending love to the Nieves family. It was such a privilege to have been acquainted with David. He led with his heart, his greatest asset. If we all could be just a little more like him, what a wonderful world this would be.

Today David, you are resting in the Lords hands. It wasn’t much the time we spend together but the little moments we shared you made them memorable. My Cousin David was a family person he would visit Puerto Rico and come see his Aunt , my mother ( now together in heaven).
You will always be remembered and loved
Your Cousin, Gloria

My sincere condolences to the family and fellow police officers of MPO David Nieves. I am very saddened by the news of his passing. Officer Nieves spoke to our civic league on several occasions and helped us set up our Neighborhood Watch Program several years ago. He conducted safety and security assessments on several homes in our neighborhood making recommendations to make our properties more secure. He always had a smile and a courteous and helpful approach to everything. A police officer and citizen who cared about his community and neighbors. Virginia Beach will miss him. Thank you for your service and rest in peace.

David, although I did not meet you in person, I want to thank you because you made my cousin very happy, and you loved her children very much, that smile that she emanated by your side made us happy to see her like this. Infinite thanks, for that and more God has a place reserved for you in heaven and from there you will be the angel that protects them. Rest in peace and perpetual light shine for you.
