Darin Dwayne Wilson, 59 of Virginia Beach, VA entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 peacefully at home with his wife by his side. His spirit will be carried on by his beloved wife Angela and his devoted daughters, Ashley (Trey) of Florida and Aleah of Virginia. Prior to his union with wife Angela, he was blessed with a son DJ of North Carolina.
He is pre-deceased by his parents Clarence and Madelyn of Bronx, New York both laid to rest in 2001.
He is survived by his sister Angela and brother Terrence, both of New Jersey. YES, his sister’s name is also Angela. A dedicated mother-in-law Evangelist Daisy by way of Georgia, brother-in-law Charles “Reggie” (Terri) of South Carolina, loving nephews and nieces, Aunts, Uncles, loads of cousins, friends, and neighbors from every walk of life around the country, law enforcement and military comrades, all of which whom have become extended family.
In 1989 while serving active duty in the US Navy, Darin met his wife Angela, who was serving active-duty US Coast Guard on board station Naval Security Group Activity Northwest, Chesapeake, VA. He later honorably retired in 2009 from the Navy Reserves of 26 years with combined active service.
He is amongst the college graduating Class of 2019 from Saint Leo’s University; BA in Homeland Security Criminal Justice (cum laude).
Prior to joining the Virginia Beach Police Department in 1997, he worked as security personnel for United Services Automobile Association (USAA) in Norfolk, VA. He retired as a police detective of over 22 years in June 2021 from VBPD. In Oct 2021, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Glioblastoma grade 4. Through the Grace of God, he faithfully survived 21 months under the anointed medical care Texas Arlington Memorial Hospital, Sentara Norfolk Hospital/Neurosurgical Specialist, Virginia Oncology/Brock Cancer Center Norfolk, Sentara EVMS Radiation Dept Norfolk, Bayview Medical Group Chesapeake, Tricare East, and Hampton VA Medical Center. He transitioned with great care from Medi Home Hospice Chesapeake. A special shout out to Virginia Department of Veterans Services and OPTUNE.
Darin is our Superman. He was a devoted husband and loving father who loved watching movies, HGTV and the history channel. He prided himself on weekly dad jokes with his daughters. He was a dedicated fan of the New York Giants football team who loved motorcycles.

An Honorable Ceremony will be held for Darin on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 11:00AM in Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. A livestream will be available below for those who are unable to attend in person. No small children please.
Interment will take place at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Virginia 23434.
