Cynthia Sue Gerasch passed away on February 1st, 2024. Cyndi was born to Patricia Ledford Gerasch Lowe and Norbert Gerasch on August 22nd, 1962, in the picturesque town of Franklin, North Carolina. Cyndi grew up in Virginia Beach, spending much of her adult life serving her community and volunteering for Comprehensive Mental Health Services both regionally and nationally. Cyndi’s passion was the desire for voiceless and underprivileged communities to be treated equally and advocated for fiercely. She embodied purpose, grace, courage and dignity. Her wish would be for all people to have a promising and supportive view of the underserved in our community, especially those with mental or physical challenges. Cyndi would encourage all to learn about these beautiful souls, to reach out, to assist, in some small yet simple way, so that everyone would feel safe and loved.

Cyndi is survived by a large network of family and friends who loved her dearly, will miss her immensely and will continue to share her passion and purpose for helping others.

The family would especially like to thank the medical staff in the Emergency Room and the Intermediate Intensive Care Unit at Sentara Leigh Hospital for the gentle loving care and support of our beloved Cyndi and to all of us during this incredibly difficult time. Your kind and supportive words will remain in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness at

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday, February 8th at the Tenant E event space of Esoteric Restaurant at 501 Virginia Beach Blvd, Suite A, Virginia Beach, VA. 23451.
