Corey Martin

September 14, 1980 - December 25, 2023

09/14/1980 - 12/25/2023

We are sad to announce the passing of Corey Mitchell Martin. Corey Mitchell Martin was born on September 14,1980 in Lawton, Oklahoma and passed away December 25, 2023, at age 43 in Chesapeake, VA.

Corey left behind his son, Cash Timothy Martin, his mother Eileen Gibson and her husband Patrick Gibson of Horn Lake, MS, his father James D. Martin and his wife Cheryl Martin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his sister Lynn Bigger and Larry Bigger of Grove, Oklahoma, brother Jason Martin and Stephanie Martin of Mustang, Oklahoma, his sister Vanessa Farley and Milam Farley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also left behind his nephews Brandon Coffenberry and his 2 sons and 1 daughter, Scotty Runzel and his son, Zarek Martin, his Aunt Debbie and her husband Charlie and family. Corey Martin was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Allie Turnage, maternal grandfather John Turnage, parental grandmother Oileen Martin, paternal grandfather James C Martin, Uncle Kenneth, nephew Jonathan Coffenberry, and his Foster Mom Linda, Aunt Beverly Austin, Aunt Janet Weller, Uncle Dave Weller, Uncle Eddie Turnage and his best friend and family pet Chico Martin.

Corey was a professional crane operator.

Corey’s life accomplishment was our son Cash Timothy Martin. When Cash was born, he told me he finally knew what he was put on this earth for. He loved the outdoors, the beach, riding his motorcycle, attending car shows, attending concerts and most of all sharing his experiences with our son. Corey would bring Cash to “Cruising the Coast” in Mississippi every year to enjoy all that he loved with his family. Corey grew to become the most loving father that I ever witnessed. His love of music and cooking on the grill around a fire with Cash, family and friends was his happy place.  His witty personality, dance moves, amazing singing voice and love will forever be cherished in our memories.  Corey was a hard worker, a grill master and most of all, a loving father.

May the love you share with Chico be your comfort now and you be reunited over the Rainbow Bridge.

I miss you Corey I wish we had the opportunity to talk at lease one more time before you left this world. You have been visiting me in my dreams, makes my chest hurt when I wake up from those dreams. Until we meet again, I guess. ❤️‍🩹

I love Corey, we didn’t always like each other or get along. He was headstrong and adventurous. I will miss him always.

My nephew Corey was one of a kind. He loved hard and I think he lived even harder. His hugs were special and he he stayed close to me. He called me at random times and we would talk a out all sorts of things. The one thing I know is that he loved Cash more than anything in this world. He was one of the best fathers I have ever known. Nothing meant more to Corey than Cash. I hope you have found your peace. I will always love you.

I was 12 when Corey was born and I spent some of my allowance on a outfit for him. He was always out going and adventurous. We would play in the yard while it rained or in the small pool Mom got them. He was always willing to help around the house when he was little but like all kids didn’t want to help so much when he got older lol. He lived a life of love, laughter, and a smile that hid alot of things only a very few knew about. My brother showed me what it was to push forward and forgive even those that don’t deserve it not for their sake but for our own. He thought me that even though things happen that we don’t deserve that we must forgive them so that our souls are free from what happened and we can move forward. You were always so much wiser than your age and I will keep all of our precious memories close to my heart. I thank God every day that he made me your Big sister and I will cherish your 40th birthday and meeting my handsome and smart nephew and spending what ended up being our last moments together. I pray your heart is at peace ✌️ now and that you will be with your best friend forever. I love you Corey Mitchell
