Colleen R. McKelvie, 53, suddenly departed this world on July 5, 2016. Her family was by her side as she drifted off to eternal rest. She was preceded by her father, William L. Riley in 2013. She is survived by her mother, Antoinette M. Riley; two brothers, Chester M. Riley and William L. Riley, II; two sisters, Daun R. Shepherd and Kathleen M. Chomas two nieces, Crystal L. Riley and Andrea R. Shepherd; two nephews, Justin N. Chomas and Michael D. Shepherd, and many great nieces and nephews.
Although there are not enough words to describe Colleen she had an infinite love for her family, friends and especially for children and embraced those with special needs. She was an “Army Brat”, living all over the U.S. and parts of Europe which cultivated her free-spirited nature. She always challenged herself and those around her to make the most out of life and their time here on earth. She was an avid gardener and known for her amazing “Green Thumb” and respect for the earth. She was known for her quick-witted humor and open wisdom at any given situation. She was a supporter of the Hampton Chapter Cub Scout Pack 184, Den #2 for her great nephew Zane M. Hollis. Colleen will be mournfully missed by many and our love will remain with her throughout eternity.
Special Gratitude to Ben Pavek of the Hampton Public Defender’s Office who compassionately understood her needs and plight for justice which provided her a good deal of comfort in her final days. Also to Debbie Mayo the comfort care nurse that provided much spiritual support for her and the family during her final hours.

I’ll love you forever and always!
I’m so sorry for your loss.. Colleen was a wonderful friend and person and she loved her Irish heritage. Last year I went to Ireland and she asked me to get her a fisherman’s knot. I searched high and low for one and never found it, when I got back I had to break the news to her. We determined I was asking for the WRONG thing and we both had a laugh. She was amazing and I will surely miss her..
She was amazing…. incredibly loving and passionate. Ill never forget her.
You will be missed Colleen but never forgotten.Your friend Rene
