Clara Luecke Reeves of Virginia Beach, VA passed away at her home surrounded by her family on March 2, 2023. Clara was born in Terre Haute, IN to John and Marguerite Luecke on February 26, 1946. She graduated from Great Bridge High School and went on to become a nurse working at King’s Daughter Hospital. After the birth of her son John, she spent many years as a stay-at-home mom volunteering as room mom, den mom for scouts, chaperoning field trips and sporting practices. She later worked at NEXCOM retiring after 20 years as an Executive Assistant. In 2001 she married the love of her life, Wayne Reeves. The last 15 years she has worked side-by-side with him as a co-owner of Four Seasons Nursery in Virginia Beach.

Clara and Wayne shared a zest for life and loved to travel. Some of their favorite vacations were in St. Thomas, Jost Van Dyke, New York City, Fort Meyers, Key West, and New England. Her son John was her biggest pride and joy, and so were her grandchildren who affectionately called her Bubbie. She was hardworking and never met a project she wasn’t ready to tackle. She loved reading books, collecting shells, and playing on the beaches of the Outer Banks with her grandkids. She loved thrift stores and yard sales, sewing and quilting, baking, gardening, music, good food and nights on the porch at the beach with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents John Francis and Marguerite Roberts Luecke. She is survived by her husband, Rufus Wayne Reeves, of Virginia Beach. Son John Dunford (Claire) of Richmond, step-daughter Tiffany Murray (Ian) of Virginia Beach. Grandchildren Mack and Emily Dunford and Layla, Graeme, and Gwen Murray.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12-2pm on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Maestas Chapel located at 1801 Baltic Ave. Virginia Beach. Attire is casual and feel free to wear bright or floral colors (Clara’s favorites). Arrangements are made by Altmeyer Funeral Home.
