Carl Vance, beloved husband, father, and distinguished member of the community, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2023, in Virginia. He was born on January 24, 1935, in West Virginia. Carl was 88 years old at the time of his passing.
Carl lived a remarkable life filled with dedication, service, and unwavering commitment. He served his country with honor and distinction, dedicating 20 years to active duty in the Navy. After his time in the Navy, Carl continued to serve as a naval reservist, where he excelled as a member of the rifle team.
Throughout his life, Carl demonstrated exceptional skill and achieved many notable accomplishments. He was a proud member of the Masons and was twice awarded the distinguished rifleman award, a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence.
Carl’s family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. He is survived by his loving wife, Susanne, their children, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his son, Scott, and all of his thirteen siblings.
As we bid farewell to Carl Vance, we remember him for his unwavering dedication, strong work ethic, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May Carl’s soul find eternal peace, and may his memory serve as a source of comfort and inspiration to those who mourn his loss.

Carl liked people and enjoyed many friendships. His experiences and interests made it easy for him to engage in conversation with a longtime friend or someone he recently met. Carl was a gentleman, and we will miss him!
