Brooke was always a cheerful, wonderful and caring person from the time I’ve known her. It is a sad time for me as I’ve just learned about her passing. But I am glad to know that she endured several years and had a good life in a way most people only dream about. My prayers are with Brooke’s siblings, parents, grandparents, friends and family. We graduated high school together and I could always depend on her for a good ‘word’ when times got tough.

Brooke was one of the first people I met when I was a freshman at ODU in 1997. We were friends throughout our time at ODU. We lost touch for a while, but recently connected and spoke a few months ago thanks to social media. When I think about how VA became my home away from home (NJ) for those 4 years at ODU, Brooke was there every step of the way. We laughed and had some great times together. I’ll remember those times, always.

So very sorry to hear of Brooke’s passing… We had much contact over the last few months regarding a presentation of domestic violence in the workplace we had put together for my company. In the process, we became friends and she was introducing me to new people as ironically, my husband had passed away on August 31, 2015 at the age of 49. She will be greatly missed… Much love to her family and friends…

We knew her for her COURAGE. She served her community during a difficult time when many were afraid to stand up and possibly put themselves in harms way. She was and will always be remembered for this and her intelligence and wisdom beyond her years. We miss seeing her and Tonka walking in our community everyday and know that we have lost a wonderful friend and neighbor.

We’re so sorry to learn of Brooke’s passing. Her smile in the photo just shows the life she led helping others, while enjoying life. CHristine, Derek and I have fond memories of the times we spent together when they were kids. Camping, skating, and riding bikes, to name just a few. Prayers and hugs to you, and those who knew Brooke well.
