Barbara Walsh Gibson, 69, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away unexpectedly Thursday May 5, 2022 at home. She was born in Arlington, VA on November 17, 1952 to the late Lt Col Paul and Josephine Walsh. She had attended the now former Washington-Lee High School in Arlington.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend to many and soon to be great-grandmother. Through the years when her children were growing up, she was a cub scout leader, team mom, band mom, girl scout mom and a mom to many others.
She loved to go to the beach and hang out with her family and friends. She loved watching her Washington Football team, the WVU Mountaineers play football and her Washington Capitals “Rock the Red!” each year; and hanging out with her beloved fur baby Kona.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Walsh, who also passed May 5 but in 2005 – 17 years to the day; and her first husband Gary Gibson, the father of their children on March 8, 2021.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her children, Matthew Gibson of Virginia Beach, VA and Christina Gibson-Sigley (Kevin) of Albright, WV; her grandchildren, Dani Sigley (Jeff R) and Alex Sigley, both of Albright, WV and Zackery Gibson also of Virginia Beach and a great-grandchild to be born later in the year of Albright, WV; and many more extended family and friends; especially her work family at Food Lion; and her dear friend and sister in Christ, Karen Elgin (Jack) of Virginia Beach and her fur baby Kona. She will be greatly missed by all.
I’m sorry to hear the news of Barb’s passing. I met her at Food Lion and miss her dearly. She and I became great friends and I valued her friendship. May she RIP
Mattie and Chrissy, I am sorry for your loss.
